Research Fellow, Palliative and Supportive Care

HammondCare is looking for a post-doctoral researcher, who has a passion for research which can improve palliative and supportive care. Working within the Centre for Learning & Research in Palliative Care, the Research Fellow provides high level support for the research effort in palliative & supportive care across the organisation.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop research skills, experience and it also provides an opportunity to pursue your own research agenda within the themes of palliative and supportive care.
About you
You will have completed, or about to submit, your PhD in a relevant health-related or social science discipline, with:
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- Track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods (ideally both)
- Knowledge and experience of systematic reviews
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound understanding of ethical issues and competence in writing ethics applications

Clinician Mentor, Advance Project

- Enhancing palliative care and advance care planning in primary and chronic/complex care.
- Exciting fixed-term role based at Pallister House, Greenwich Hospital, Sydney NSW.
- 0.4 FTE up to 1.0 FTE opportunity, dependent upon candidates’ desire, availability and skill mix.
- Role commencing mid-January to early February 2018, or sooner subject to negotiation, with an end date of March 2020 (appointment until 31st July 2020 will be considered for candidates with project management and/or evaluation experience).
HammondCare is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with significant clinical experience in facilitating advance care planning and/or palliative care and supportive care assessments, and experience in coaching and mentoring others.
An individual with experience in developing and delivering training programs would be advantageous to the role. The Clinician Mentor works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to develop new training resources and provide mentorship and support for training participants of the Advance Project. The Advance Project is a national project funded by the Australian Government, Department of Health.
About you
- A tertiary degree in the health sector (nursing, medical or psychosocial).
- Significant clinical experience in facilitating advance care planning discussions and/or palliative and supportive care assessments for elderly and/or chronically ill patients.
- Clinical experience working in primary and/or chronic/complex care orspecialist palliative care settings
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
